ABOUT THE CHARITIES
Hospice of Southern West Virginia and the Bowers Hospice House exist to serve the needs of individuals suffering from life-limiting illnesses as well as to serve the individuals caring for them. The nonprofit's emphasis is on comfort and quality of life as they provide the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the terminally ill and their loved ones in Fayette, Raleigh, Summers and Wyoming counties. Families in Southern West Virginia have turned to Hospice of Southern West Virginia for support, pain control and comfort for their loved ones for more than 40 years.
Brian's Safehouse is a place where men, who are fighting against addiction, can experience the life restoring powers of God in an environment free from the temptations of drugs and alcohol. The nonprofit is a 12 month, inpatient program with a closed campus. Its program is Biblically based, acknowledging that complete restoration comes through Jesus Christ. Brian's Safehouse teaches its residents emotional, spiritual, and practical life skills. Individualized treatment plans address underlying issues as well as focus on the resident's strengths and potential. The organization strives to enable residents to reenter society as responsible, contributing citizens.
